God loved Solomon as a baby and asked that he be named God's Beloved. Before he even knew right from wrong God loved him; before he did anything to please God, God poured His love on Baby Solomon.
This is how grace works - unmerited, unearned - while we were yet DEAD IN TRESPASSES, Christ offered his life so we might live. Awesome. GOD loved this baby who was born from a union that would be considered sinful and criminal. Through Christ, God bestows on us the very same love he has for his son. When he looks upon us, we are clothed with the purity of Jesus. He therefore loves us unconditionally.
“David went and comforted his wife Bathsheba. And when he slept with her, they conceived a son. When he was born they named him Solomon. GOD had a special love for him and sent word by Nathan the prophet that GOD wanted him named Jedidiah (God’s Beloved).”
